REACH Capital Campaign

We've REACHed our goal!

The Campaign to REACH Beyond Domestic Violence

REACH is proud to announce the completion of a capital campaign that will dramatically improve our efforts to help survivors and their children who are fleeing abusive relationships. Construction is already underway on our new shelter facility, and exciting developments are happening every day.

Our new shelter space will double our current capacity to shelter families. It features private rooms for therapy, necessary technology to help with job and housing searches, and rooms where children can play and do homework. The new shelter is handicapped accessible, and in a superior location – closer to schools, public transportation, services and stores. The Campaign also helps us expand our community education and victim advocacy, and provide a foundation for long-term financial security for our organization and the people we serve.

We are so grateful for the support of our generous donors in helping us reach this important milestone.  There are still opportunities to support REACH as we shelter families and help them begin new lives. Background

According to a recent survey by the National Network to End Domestic Violence, on any given day, as many as 100 domestic violence survivors seeking shelter in Massachusetts are turned away from programs due to lack of space. To address this urgent and growing crisis, which is exacerbated by tough economic times and cuts to state services, our Board of Directors and agency leadership voted to take on a $2.5 million capital campaign: The Campaign to REACH Beyond Domestic Violence. The primary focus of this effort was to purchase and renovate a larger home to serve as an expanded REACH emergency shelter. After a feasibility study and several years of advanced planning, REACH identified and purchased a new home in the fall of 2007. Construction began in the summer of 2009, and is on schedule to finish this summer!
