Holiday Gift Program

Every year, REACH provides gifts to more than 200 families who may be struggling financially as they deal with the effects of domestic violence.  We are able to do this through the generosity of donors who help us fulfill holiday wishes.

Our holiday program has two parts:

Gift drive – We invite the survivors who work with REACH to submit holiday “wish lists” for themselves and each of their children. Our goal is to provide each family member with about four gifts, each in the $25 range.  We then pass the wish lists on to donors, who fulfill the wishes and deliver these gifts to us for distribution in mid December.

Holiday party and dinner – We invite the families who work with REACH to join us for a holiday party, complete with a festive dinner and activities for kids. The party is also a chance for us to distribute the gifts collected in response to the families’ wish lists. (We pass on the gifts discreetly, so parents can wrap and present them to their children at their own holiday celebrations.)

Would you like to help? There are several ways to join the team and help bring joy to families this holiday season.

Sponsor a family and fulfill their gift wishes. Most of the parents who work with REACH depend on our holiday program to help them provide their children with gifts for the holidays. Their wish lists often include basic necessities, like hats and mittens, underwear, or blankets. If you prefer to shop for a certain age group, or gender, let us know and we can match you with a family that will be fun to shop for. Many of our sponsors join with their friends, coworkers, book groups, or other groups and shop for a family together as a meaningful way to observe the holiday season. We ask that the gifts be unwrapped and, if appropriate, include a gift receipt.

Help with the holiday dinner. We are looking for donations of time or money to help provide the fixings for our holiday meal. You can help out by making baked goods or side dishes.

Donate gift cards. We often supplement a family’s gift pile with one or two gift cards to allow them to do some shopping on their own.  If you don’t have time to shop, consider helping us out with gift cards.

Make a general donation to REACH. Donations are welcomed to support the work that we do with families throughout the year.
