REACH is currently accepting applications for both Summer and Fall Internships and Volunteer Positions at our Main Office in Waltham, MA. Interns at REACH help create a welcoming environment for survivors visiting our community office. Tasks for this position vary, and include answering phone calls at our main office (which may include crisis intervention or hotline calls), offering emotional support, information and referrals, assistance with document preparation for court or accessing benefits (such as food stamps or housing applications), safety planning, childcare, as well as possible accompaniment with survivors. Interns and volunteers will also be asked to assist with administrative duties, help with preparations for support groups or outreach events. Bilingual individuals, especially those proficient in Spanish, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Interns are required to complete our “full training,” which is 42 hours in length. Topics for the training include Domestic Violence 101, Trauma 101, Child Exposure to Violence, Teen Dating Abuse, Safety Planning, and many more. You may also view our complete Summer Training Schedule. This training will be offered both in the Summer and Fall, though topics may vary. The Summer training will be held May 30-June 7 (excluding weekends) from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. The Fall Training will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the Fall from September 13 – October 18 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM with an additional mandatory training on Saturday, September 15 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Internships are expected to be 8-12 hours per week, with shifts from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Though our application indicates a one-year commitment, exceptions can be made for summer or one-semester internships.
