REACH Trains Bentley University Staff

In late December, REACH was excited to facilitate a training for Bentley University staff. As part of a series of trainings provided by the Student Conduct and Title IX team, REACH led a workshop on understanding responses to trauma that staff may witness in the student population they serve. We were joined by staff from the Multicultural Center, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Center for International Students & Scholars, Graduate Student Academic Services, the Office of International Education, and Campus Police. The discussion was incredibly rich and insightful, with perspectives from so many different roles on campus. Each participant shared a desire to learn how best to support the students they see every day. We covered different trauma-informed strategies and techniques that could be utilized when a student discloses a past or recent trauma. We finished the training by focusing on how bearing witness to trauma can impact each of us, and how to recognize signs of vicarious trauma in each other and ourselves.

We are so grateful to our partnership with Bentley University and are excited to be returning this month for a lunch and learn with faculty and staff!
