This year marks the 10th Annual Reach for the Stars gala. We can’t believe how much has changed in 10 years, and yet how many familiar faces still join us to celebrate each year. If you haven’t been able to join us for the past couple of years, we’d invite you to come back and see what you’ve been missing. If you’ve been with us all along, you know what a special night this is. In case you need some encouragement, here are just 5 reasons to be excited about this year’s event:
1. The Emcee
If you’re a fan of the Chronicle program on WCVB-TV, then you’ll recognize our emcee for the evening as Co-Anchor J.C. Monahan. You might also know her from her meteorologist duties at Channel 5 and elsewhere. We’re so pleased that she can join us and we’re looking forward to having her lend her expert hosting skills to the evening.
2. New location
We’re taking you to court – the John Joseph Moakley Courthouse, to be exact. You won’t believe the spectacular views of Boston Harbor and skyline that will provide the backdrop for our evening of dinner and dancing.
3. Honorary Guest
This year we’re recognizing former Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone for his years of service in advocating for victims and those impacted by domestic violence. Come help us honor this dedicated public servant for all he’s done to help the cause.
4. Plates
In honor of the 10-year milestone, we are changing up the way we do plates this year! We now have ten platters to be auctioned off individually, as well as a plate set of ten (with 5 artists doing 2 plates each). In addition, there will be four survivor kids plates. The limited supply means plates from this year will be a special collector’s item, so don’t miss your chance to get your hands on one. Have a little sneak peak in our online gallery.
5. Survivor Speaker
Some of us on staff have gotten a preview of the survivor speaker for the evening. We’re not going to give anything away, but we can tell you that you won’t want to miss this young woman’s story of hope. Come prepared to be inspired.
These are just five reasons – we haven’t even talked about the incredible food, the auction packages, or the music from the Mood Swings and the Olson Pingrey Quartet. There are more than enough reasons to attend, so we hope you will purchase your ticket today, and we’ll see you on October 19th!
