REACH Stands With Waltham Mother Whose Son Was Detained by ICE

Waltham residents recently gathered in support of a Waltham mother whose son was reportedly detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency on February 4. Residents were made aware of the detainment after the mother shared a video of it on YouTube.

During the gathering, REACH Executive Director Amarely Gutiérrez Oliver spoke to The Waltham Times, saying that the incident has made local immigrants scared to leave their homes. She also pointed out how incidents like this can make immigrant survivors of domestic violence more hesitant to seek help. For survivors who don't want to leave their homes, Oliver said REACH has avenues for providing support virtually. The REACH hotline is available 24/7 at 800-899-4000.
